Leggings As Pants? Yes You Can!

If there is one fashion trend wagon that I thought I would never jump on, it would be the "wearing leggings as pants" trend. I mean when this was a trend back in the 90's at least we had the decency to wear them with shirts that went well past our bottoms (and our fronts for that matter!) So when I see kids now a days (Ha! Ha! I can say that now that I'm 40) wearing leggings as pants, I just cringe. But to make matters worse, I see it everywhere, by women of all ages. No! Just No!

Did I say No? Well I mean yes, but not always yes. I still don't want to see your ass through your leggings. So if you insist on wearing leggings as pants with short shirts, then at the very least please make sure you are buying quality leggings that are not showing skin and panties through the stretch!

I have come to love the leggings as pants trend again. I tend to wear them with shirts that just skim the bottom of my bottom and show a little shape vs the shapeless look of the 90's. And no, never with a sweatshirt, not even a Champion one! (Bonus points for you if you get the reference!)

This shirt I got from the Prabal Gurung x Target collection is one of my favorites with leggings. I love the curved shape on the side and the added length in the back. Add a blazer or moto jacket and call it a day! (Unless you're in sunny FL like me, then in that case, forget the jacket.)

If you're still on the fence with the whole leggings as pants trend, here are a few tips:
  • Quality is key! Make sure when stretched that you can't see through them.
  • Keep them dark. If you are less adventurous, then go dark and thick. I love these that I bought from Target last year. They are super thick and tend to suck it all in and have an awesome faux leather detailing down the side.
  • Buy pant leggings or jean leggings to ease into the trend. This is a way to enjoy the comfort of leggings, while still enjoying the trend.

Ray Ban Cockpit Aviator Sunglasses

I was never a big fan of aviator sunglasses, they just did not look good on me. The shape always looked ridiculous on my face. I feel like it's so easy for aviators to go horribly wrong, or even worse make you look like a total douche bucket. (Yeah I said it!) But one day last year, I walked into a Sunglass Hut with some friends and saw the classic Ray Ban Aviators with the Green Flash mirrored lenses. OMG! What is this madness? I fell in love! Well with the green lenses anyway. They still looked absolutely terrible on me. And $150+ for a pair of sunglasses? No thank you!

Fast forward a year, back in Sunglass Hut we go. This time looking at Polorized lenses. And I see those same classic aviators in Green Flash. I try them on again and John was like "Um NO!" I then tried on the Cockpit's and now I knew there was an aviator for me. The less severe shape worked for me. But did they have them in green flash? NO! Booo! I immediately went online and found that you could customize your pair. But at $170? Ugh! But I had to have them!!!  Then a few weeks later, we saw them at a Ray Ban Authorized Dealer store in the Florida Mall. There they were! The Cockpit Aviators in matte gold frame with Green Flash lenses! First, I went to the Ray Ban website to make sure they were in fact an authorized dealer, even though the kiosk said Ray Ban all over it. (One can never be too careful.) Once that was confirmed, I tried them on and well... Happy Belated Birthday to me!

John and I agreed that I would not get a Birthday gift this year. We tend to only buy each other gifts every few years. This year with his retirement and Coco's Birthday and then my party, we felt that no gift buying was in order. That is until we saw these... John knew instantly and just shrugged and said Happy Birthday! WAHOO!!! (Glad I didn't already get a gift!)

I am so in love with these frames! They are seriously attention getting, which is not normally my thing, but OMG! Are these not the hottest things you've ever seen? Now I want them in the Copper Flash and Polorized version. Yup it looks like I get the whole Ray Ban obsession now.

Moto Trend for Fall

The black moto jacket is one of those items that is a must have in every woman's closet. For the last few years I have been looking for a black faux leather moto jacket that looks as sumptuous as the real thing. I knew in my mind what I wanted, now I just needed to find it. My friend's (and Juan) hate going shopping with me when I am like this. I picture what I want in my head and nothing but that will do. They can show me a million black faux leather moto jackets and none will do. The way I see it; if I am thinking of it in my head, then clearly someone out there will have thought of it and made it, right? I am not kidding when I say I have been looking for years now.

Then it happened...

I took my girls to start their back to school shopping a few weeks ago and I walked into Zara's. Why? I don't know, because this shopping trip was to start back to school shopping and for a new pair of black D'orsay heels for me. (Still looking). But I was an hour away from home, near a Zara, I had to go in.

There it was, so beautiful. So sumptuous. So perfect. The Zara Biker Jacket. Could it really be faux leather? Could it be everything I was looking for? Those sleeves were exactly what I envisioned. I couldn't wait to check out the zippers, were they a little longer than necessary on the sleeve like I wanted? Would there be a true moto style design on the back? Please oh please...

YES! YES! YES! It is perfect, and it fits like it was made for me! And the price? $99.90! OK, so here's the thing, it wasn't in the budget for right now. Not with back to school shopping looming and my need for new shoes. But I just couldn't leave it. It had to come home with me. YAY!

So now you would think, sweet, jacket scored! End of story. But noooo now I want Banana Republic's Sloan moto style pants, a cute little bucket bag like the one by Lauren Merkin's pictured here or a totally hot pair of ankle booties like these by BCBGMAXAZRIA. Man I need to win the lotteryso I can buy all the moto things!

So tell me has this type of obsession ever happened to you?
