The Divas & Drama Collection

I am finally getting around to posting the pictures I took of our upcoming collection for Spring. I am surprised at how busy I have been and that this has taken me so long to post. We are planning another Orlando blogger event and we are actually working with some great companies for the event, I am so excited, we are becoming an official group! I think right now our group name will be Central Florida Beauty and Polish Bloggers, but nothing has been finalized yet. But still - WAHOO! That has been taking some work on my end today to get ready for it. I am so loving what I am putting together for the event. Of course Clumps of Mascara is the one actually putting this one together and has gotten most of the sponsors and I can't thank her enough!  Of course I will share all the news with you of our event!

Anyway, you don't care about that, do you? I took some pictures of the upcoming Divas & Drama collection and thought I would share. These are still not the best in my opinion, I was working around a cloudy day, so I tried to hit when the sun hit. Here are the colors, some info on them and of course the story behind each color.

First up - Enticing. This one was created for a friend of mine. Every time I see her, she is wearing a sheer pink polish like this and every time she tells me that sheer pinks are her favorite colors to wear and asks when I am going to make one. Then I met someone else who does infomercial type work when I filmed that segment for You Are the Supermodel and she told me for her work she can only wear sheer colors like this pink and she wishes I would make one. It seems every other time I meet someone they ask if I have any sheer pinks. So after hearing so much about everyone wanting a sheer pink, how could I not create one. At first this one had a shimmer, but it just looked to frosty and far off from what I was being asked for. If you look really really close you might just see this one even has a hint of shimmer, but it pretty much disappears once on the nail. It just seems to help with application for some reason. And as much as I was bucking this color in the beginning, I have to admit, I LOVE this color!! This is so delicate and pretty and versatile. I try to not wear any colors before a collection is released, but I have broken several times and keep wearing this one. Go figure all the crazy colors and one of the simplest is the one I keep going back to.  LOL!

Enticing is a muted pink with a touch of white undercurrents. It is what I would call a very sheer creme. This is two coats. I am not wearing topcoat in these pictures.

The second color in the collection is Scandalous. This color was created after an evening chatting on Twitter with Scandalous Ange. She said she wanted a jelly the color of a creamsicle. I went to work on this one and can I just say this one was friggin' hard! I made a creme version and loved it. I made a blood orange version, but obviously a blood orange and a creamsicle are not even close in color. I wanted to try to create something that would walk the line between a pastel orange and a vivid or neon orange and still be that jelly/creme in the creamsicle color that Ange wanted. This is another one that I LOVE LOVE LOVE! I imagine this one as a great spring pedi color.  Since Ange created this color, we decided to call it Scandalous in her honor.
Scandalous is a sheer jelly/creme polish that tows the line between being a creamy pastel orange and a vivid orange. It photographed a bit more orange than it really is. This picture is with no top coat.

The third polish is Manipulative. This color is based on a mini weekend getaway we took this summer with some friends. We went to a co-workers place on the river and took the ride to a local beach. The water was this awesome green and blue color. It would shift back and forth and it had this sparkle that was so obvious one minute and so hidden the next. I must have taken 100 pictures of the water so I could recreate it in a polish and bottle up the memories of that weekend.

Manipulative is a creme polish that can shift from being more green based to more blue based and has a very subtle shimmer effect.

The last polish in the Divas and Dramas collection is Seduction. Seduction was made right after I made Unicorn Puke. A friend saw it and loved it like the rest of us, but said she wished it didn't have the green flakes. Hmm of course that just got my mind working and now we have Seduction. Maybe it's just because I've had Unicorn Puke/Clairvoyant for a while now, but dare I say I like Seduction better? Yup, I sure do!

Seduction is in a purple/red sheer jelly base with red, blue and pink iridescent flakes. At this point Seduction is Limited Edition. However we were lucky enough to have a lot more of this made than we did Clairvoyant, so I don't see a threat of this one selling out the way Clairvoyant did.

Here is Seduction over Enticing

Here is Seduction over Scandalous

Here is Seduction over Manipulative

Please excuse the appearance of my hands and cuticles. It's been so busy, I haven't really been maintaining my hands and nails like I should mix that with a sun that wanted to peek out here and there and a new cheap camera because my daughter broke mine somehow and these pictures really need some more work. But hopefully they are good enough to give you an idea on the upcoming collection. We are looking to begin Pre-Sale around March 15th, but we haven't set a firm date just yet. But if you are signed up to receive notices on our website, we will definitely send an email out in advance. You can also follow us on and for updates.

Oh and did I mention that Captivated is coming back? That is a bit separate from this collection, but will be available at the same time. So for those of you wanting a recap of Captivated here it is:

And if all that isn't enough, it looks as if Wicked Fast and Black Out will be back in stock at the same time! WAHOO!!!

Upcoming Polish Collection Recap

If you follow me on Facebook you probably have already seen the photos of some of our upcoming collections. We have a lot of polish coming your way this year. One of the best part of Cult Nails is that everyone seems to get into the polish making. I receive emails, tweets, blog comments, phone calls and friends who all have ideas of what they would like to see for a polish. I took many of these ideas with me when I went to the lab and we ended up creating something around 35 polish colors! Now here I sit creating more at home, so that come June I can head back to the lab and start creating colors for next year. I also have some colors I am sending them that we can hopefully release in the middle of some other collections this year and we are doing tons of research and development for some cool stuff to come. It is a never ending cycle, with a limited budget. So it's always tough trying to figure out what to put in each collection. I will show you in more detail swatches of all the upcoming colors for these collections but I just thought I would post a quick snapshot of what was on Facebook in case you missed it.

First up is the picture of the collection coming in March. I'll be posting swatches and descriptions of these on the blog soon. I'm just waiting for a sunny day and a good announcement as to when they will be released. We are just waiting for confirmation that the dates are a go for filling our bottles. So look out for that soon. And yes I will release the picture of the flake on the right soon.

And of course these fun ones that end up differently on the nail than in the bottle. The top photo correlates to the bottom photo, but I think the middle polish should be on the right not in the middle. Dang it I have to double check that! But again once we have more info as to final dates, I will let you all know. This one will be sometime in April. Oh and we have a May collection too! Yikes! This April collection snuck it's way in there. We originally planned a collection every other month this year, and somehow we have added two in between collections already. I get to excited when I create something I love to wait. Apparently I have no patience! Who knew? :)
A one coater black that stays super shiny! This is probably one that I have gotten the most requests for! Such a simple color, you can get black nail polish anywhere. But the requests have been for me to put it in the amazing Cult Nails creme formula, make it one MAYBE two coats. (I tried to apply it thinly for two coats - it doesn't work, this is a one coater for me no matter what I try, but I know everyone has different application methods so I say MAYBE because I just can't see it.) It has been asked that it stay super shiny and be good for Konading. OK I get it! You guys want a Cult Nails black! It only took three tries to get this one created, and I think you guys are going to flip over how great the coverage is. This baby needs a name, Juan and I can't agree. If you have any name suggestions, I would love to hear them!

I couldn't not play with these top coats since I kept hyping it up to Juan and couldn't bring them home with me because the lab needed them so they could recreate it for me. I ended up doing a tape manicure and I was planning on taking pictures in the sun today. But of course it has been overcast, so these are the best photos I could get. Very Mardi Gras - that was a total coincidence! Oh and these need names too. We have Two Timer, Deceitful, Duplicitous, but we aren't hard set on any of them. We want names that represent the two sides of these polishes. If you have any other ideas, let us know. Of course as usual, if you name one of our polishes, we will credit you and send it to you free!

Anyway, No idea how this day went by so fast! It's already 3pm here! I have a ton of emails to respond to still, a shower to take since I hit the gym hard again today and the post office to get to, so those of you who ordered yesterday afternoon up until oh about an hour ago can get your polishes ASAP! Shower first? Post office first? I think I'm going to go with the shower and then the post office and then your emails. Sound good? Cool! Catch you in a bit!

Playing With Color

I'm trying to look at the items in my closet a bit differently and being a little more bold in my color selections. I'm thinking this is part of my next fashion evolution, finally all the bright colors out there are making me break out of my black and beige rut.

I have really been loving all the hi/low skirts out there and when I saw this one at Target for $14.99, I knew it was perfect for me. This one is navy and grazes just above the knee in the front and below the knee in the back. A lot of these skirts are super short in the front, but I wanted something I could wear casually and to work. I paired it with a bright red top that I bought around Christmas. When pairing this outfit I think my mind was still on all the Jason Wu for Target items I bought and so I chose the "belize blue" sweater I bought at JCrew a few years ago.

Will it surprise you to know that I bought this patent nude belt at Target too?

I bet it will surprise you to know that this necklace also came from Target! If I remember correctly it was $45 when I saw it the first time. There is just no way I was going to pay that. But I loved it so much, I kept going back just to look at it. (I have a slight problem, if I like an item, I do this little game of "visiting" it at the store saying to myself if it is meant for me it will go on sale to the price I am willing to pay for it, so I go back over and over until it gets to the price point I want. If it disappears, then it wasn't meant for me.) Anyway it went down to $25 and I put it in my cart and then put it back. I remember I had a lot of other household items I needed and I just didn't NEED to spend $25 on something I didn't know when I could wear. I left Target and instantly regretted not getting it. I couldn't get back to Target for about 3 days and so I kept telling myself if it is meant for me, it will be there. When I went back it was on Clearance for $6.97!!! SCORE! Totally meant for me and no looking back! That was last summer, and I finally just wore it for the first time with this outfit! Sooo worth the wait!

I Admit It - I'm Addicted to Instagram

I am so addicted to Instagram. If you have an iPhone, you probably know what I'm talking about. If you don't have an iPhone, you should really get one just so you can have Instagram and join me! LOL!

I love that I can get a quick snapshot of what anyone else is doing in a given moment. It could be a picture of someone's pet, or kid or anything really. Just a quick peak. You start noticing things around you like the flowers that are blooming or the gorgeous sunset. If you follow GeyGey you will see some amazing photos that I imagine hanging in a gallery or on my walls. I am a bit envious of his/her skills.

Personally, I have taken to Instagraming what I am wearing each day. I usually tweet what I Instagram and finally just linked it to the Cult Nails Facebook page as well. Some of the outfits make it into actual Outfit of the Day posts on the blog, many do not. I take these pictures in my bathroom in the mornings, because that is pretty much all I have time for.

I thought I would show you some of my Instagram posts and hey if your inclined, come join me and follow me. I'm Cult Nails on there, just do a search for me. I also added a little icon on the upper right hand corner of my blog which can be used by all you none iPhone users! It's Followgram and it allows you to see what I'm posting on my Instagram. Pretty cool!

Is it Spring Yet?

After NYC, I couldn't wait to come home to my sunny FL. Of course when I got here, we had a cold front come in. It was 34 degrees out this morning and the high was 65. Yes 65 is chilly for me!

What I'm wearing:
Dress: Jason Wu for Target Sleeveless Pleated Shift Dress in Navy Dots. It's already sold out in most sizes online and it's proving to be near impossible to find in stores, but if you have your heart set on it, check out this that is helping people find the items from this collection that they are looking for. I was able to get a few pieces this way and help a few people out too! YAY!
Sweater: Zara's Basic Cardigan in black.
Shoes: Jessica Simpson Calie. I bought mine at Marshall's for $39.99. So I would check there first, otherwise they have them here on Zappos for $79.99.
Necklace: I bought this through an online retailer last year, and for the life of me I can't remember which one! I have tried to find them again because their prices were great, and I just can't find them!
Earrings: gold over silver hoops from Target.

I absolutely love this dress. It's hard to see how it accentuates my shape with the sweater over it, but it is super comfy, delicate and pretty. I actually feel sexy in this dress! It's more of a confidence sexy than an overtly sexual sexy. But I love it!

I have been posting my outfits almost every day on Instagram lately. Most of the time I take the pictures in my bathroom before work. For Instagram I think that works, but for here, you guys get the real deal.

I was wearing my Valentine's Day mani with this outfit, but I think it would have looked perfect with something simple like Mazo.
