How many people do you know get motivated to work out by taking a vacation? Somehow having the time to totally relax and step away from it all has completely re-motivated me. I used to work out all the time, but that was several years ago. Somehow along the way I stopped working out and it has been near impossible to get back to where I was. I keep active, I do stuff, but it seems like I am always in and out of keeping to a schedule. I have so many other things going on in my life, that working out only seems to happen when I am feeling totally out of shape and then once I am feeling good again I stop. It seems I am in a constant state of flux. So now that I am totally refreshed I am totally determined to get back to my former fitness level. Day one went well enough, Juan and I took a seriously brisk walk on the beach for 30 minutes today - in the rain and then I came home and did some yoga. It felt great. I am determined to continue on this path. Anyone an avid fitness nut? Any tips on how to keep motivated?

Today I need to redo my manicure so I used Essence Glamorous. I haven't used this one since last year, but I remember really liking this color. But now that I have it on, I'm not sure. It is pretty like a jewel, but it seems so 1990's holidayish to me. I'll probably just take it off tonight if I continue to dislike it. What do you think?

Looking at this picture, I realize I really need to take a moment and file my nails. I did them a little last night while laying in bed without my contacts in. I thought they looked pretty good and in person they do look good, but looking at this picture, I realize they still need work. fun!

Back To Reality

I got back from my weekend cruise with the girls yesterday, it was a perfect weekend. We relaxed, soaked in some sun, danced, ate, visited the spa and will you believe I even woke up early to work out each day? Yup and I took the stairs so many times instead of the elevator that my legs actually have a little burn feeling when i walk now. If I didn't have to work, I could totally get a workout in every day. It was so easy when I didn't have to rush anywhere. I wish I could be that dedicated at home!

It really was a perfect get-away weekend. I hardly even spent any money! YAY! The girl who set up our cruise is also an owner in the travel agency and she took care of our group. We had several cocktail parties where drinks were included and an onboard credit, so I didn't spend much at the spa or otherwise. I actually came home with most of my money! YAY!  Here are some photos from the cruise. Hey some of these can count as outfit of the day pics, which is great since I don't have a nail photo for you today.

This is the first night. I didn't take a picture standing alone. But this is just a simple tube dress that I got at Express last year for I think $50 and a pair of glittery heels I found a few years back. I don't know the brand I love these shoes! If I remember correctly I paid $70 for them.

I Watched the sunrise before a morning workout. Yup, I got up that early! Hey we napped on the beach, so I was okay with 4 - 5 hours of sleep each night!

The cruise ships docked in Nassau, Bahamas. Ours was the one on the far right. We sailed on the Royal Caribbean Monarch of the Seas. It's one of the older smaller ships, but perfect for a weekend excursion.

Formal dinner waer on the second night. This is a BCBG Max Azaria dress I picked up two years ago at an outlet. I think I paid $120 for it. You can't see the shoes in this picture, but no worries, you'll see them next picture!

The sexy legs and shoes shot! My leg is the second from the left. I'm wearing Guess heels and I got them on clearance for $60. Check out the ostrich feathers on the dress of the girl third from the left. That was a hot little dress! I don't think I could wear ostrich feathers, but she looked hot in it.

The bunny waiting in my cabin. He was wearing my sunglasses and holding the TV remote.

Royal Caribbean's island, Coco Cay. I not only hit the treadmill that morning, but I did Yoga on the beach that morning too! It was so nice doing some of those poses on the beach feeling the breeze and listening to the ocean breeze. I am going to see if anyone offers beach yoga here since I live so close to the beach. It truly was heavenly.

This is the water in Coco Cay. It was so clear you could stand chest high and see your feet. The perfect blue. I can see a polish coming out of this color. There was a section where the water actually looked like a milky blue. Unfortunately I wasn't able to capture a picture of that.

As you can see from this photo, I forgot my sunblock. This was last night. I got this dress at Ross for about $14. The belt cost more than the dress! I paid $28 for that belt at Express last year. I am wearing a plain Old Navy tank top under the dress and my patent nude Jessica Simpson heels that I paid around $80 for.

That about covers the cruise from the weekend. It was a great time and now it is back to being a mom and working my tail off.  I hope everyone had an equally fun and relaxing weekend. Peace, Love & polish girls!

And the Winner is...

First I want to thank the bloggers and followers who submitted a color for the contest and all of you who voted! I really love the concept of a truly blogger created color that was chosen by fellow bloggers and blog followers. I think this will show the power of bloggers and their followers!

The results were so close. The winner won by just 1 vote! There was another one that was really close too. The rest weren't too far behind either. But the winning color is Tierny's luminescent dark jelly with the blue & green shimmer and glitter. I have to say when I read Tierny's entry, I could instantly picture this polish. I was so excited to create this one. I can't wait to see this made! Congratulations Tierny!

Come Sail Away

Good morning ladies! I skipped my post yesterday. I was so busy yesterday, I woke up and scooted right out of the house to get to work. Knowing I would be out of the office today and Monday, I had a lot of work to do. Don't you love how you need a vacation from work to recharge, but in order to go on vacation you have to work all kinds of crazy hours before you go and once you get back in order to stay caught up with everything? Or is that just something I struggle with? Either way, no thinking about work now, now it is time to enjoy my weekend with a cruise. I can't wait, but at the same time, I have the guilty pit in the bottom of my belly because I am leaving Juan and the girls for the weekend. Not to mention the fact that I am going to miss them like crazy! Part of me just wants to stay home with my family instead. But I know I am going to have a great time with the girls and I know it's good for me to spend time with friends outside of family, so I will just miss them like crazy while I am gone and enjoy them more once I get home.

On a side note, my comments weren't working on my last post. Rather frustrating. I can't figure out why either. I am hoping the issue gets resolved for this post. Keeping my fingers crossed. Yup they work! I accidently posted this before I was finished. Oops!

The poll seems to be going great for Pre-Sale. Although the No pre-sale is winning. Boo! Ha! I love the feedback and I am glad you girls are being honest. Almost 100 people have completed the poll. That is amazing. So if I got almost 100 people to complete the poll would it be impossible to get 100 more to complete it? Let's see what happens!

The contest for the last color chosen by you for the Cult Nails line release isn't going as well as I expected though. I was hoping for 300 votes, and it doesn't look like we will get there. So how about this, the person who created the winning color is going to get the Cult Nails release line for free before anyone else. But what if I give one of the voters the line free once it releases? Does that make you want to vote now? :) You have until midnight tonight to vote and one of you will win the first 3 colors upon release! So Click Here and vote!

Hopefully I will be coming back some time today and adding a photo of my nails for the cruise. Let's see how the morning goes first though. I am actually going to work for a few hours from home this morning, so not sure if I will have time to come back and post before I have to leave. Fingers crossed!

OK I added my weekend nails.  When I go on vacation I typically wear RBL's Grunge. I love that color and it is the perfect neutral to stay trendy but not have your nails clash your clothes. So I decided I needed to make my own Grunge inspired color. This is not a dupe nor am I trying to make a dupe. I am just taking what I love and making my own neutral that is still trendy. I used a mix of polishes and pigments to create this. It has some nude polish, shimmer polish, brown pigment, purple and pink pigment and a bit of purple polish. I tried to zoom in on the nail to show you the green shimmer on this one. It is so hard to photograph a shimmer! This color is a neutral with a subtle purple and pink base and the green shimmer is so vivid in person - I wish I had more time to capture it for you guys! Hope you like it! Enjoy your weekend!

I added some purple to the brown I showed yesterday. It was a medium purple coloring I added to it. It came out pretty cool. It looks brown, but purple all at the same time. I should have gone with my first instinct and added the dark purple, but this is still a nice color that I can see myself wearing often.

Here it is inside with indirect light. It just looks slightly lighter than yesterday's brown. In person it looks a little more purple.

Here's a picture using flash and you can really see the purple coming out. How pretty is that?

In other news I received two blog awards from Danielle at http://polishobsessed.blogspot.com/. Thanks Danielle! I have received these before, but it always feels good to receive them again! If you have a chance, check out Danielle's blog - her nails are AMAZING!

Here are the guidelines of the awards.

The Sunshine Award
Here are the guidelines:
1. Save the image above and post it on your own blog.
2. Pass the award on to 12 fellow bloggers.
3. Link the nominees.
4. Let nominees know they have won this award by commenting on their blog.
5. Share the love and link to the person you received this award from.

The Happy 101 Award

Rules:
1. Post who gave you the award
2. State 10 things you like
3. Give this award to 10 other bloggers and notify them with a comment

OK - here is the thing, While I love, love, love receiving these awards - tagging bloggers is such a hard choice! How do I choose? Instead I tag all of you reading this today who have a blog. Is that cheating?

Do you really want to know 10 things I like? If I wasn't so tired, I would look for my last 10 things I like, but I am just being lazy. I wonder if the list is going to be the same? OK here goes, in no particular order.

1. My kids (OK I love them!)
2. My Husband (Yup - I love him too)
3. Polish (Hmm looks like this is a love list)
4. Pizza (Totally love)
5. LL Cool J (So hot! Loved him since I was just 13 years old!)
6. Clothes & Fashion (Did I mention this is more of a love list?)
7. My Macbook (Will never buy a PC again)
8. My Jeep (Love as if it was my child - sad I know!)
9. My friends (I love them too. I can't live without them, from my neighborhood girls, to my ladies group gals, to all those who I have met along the way and the ones I have had since I was a kid - I love them all)
10. You guys! (It's cheesy, but you have no idea how much I love seeing the comments and connecting with you all. I actually get bummed when no one comments. The sad thing is I suck at commenting all the time. I need to get better at that!)

And now for some reminders!

Cast Your Vote Reminder
If you haven't voted for the color you would like to see Cult Nails produce, cast your vote today. My goal is to have at least 500 votes! You don't have to be a blog follower to vote - so everyone you know can vote! How cool is that? So far I have almost 100 votes, so let's try to get 500 more by Friday! We can do it! Tweet to everyone you know! Right now there is a leader, but it is only ahead by 3.  Go here to vote!

Cult Nails Pre-Sale Poll
Do you want an opportunity to pre-order the Cult Nails polish colors? If so, just simply go to the upper right hand corner of the blog and click Yes. I would love to see everyone's opinion, so while the no's make me a little sad, I want to see those too! Well not really, but if we're being honest, I should see the no's too, right? I promise I won't cry!

Finally, thank you everyone for the overwhelming support. I know I keep saying it, but it truly means so much to me. Thank you!

Well I am off for a fun filled day full of HR training. YAY! Not really, but a girl's got to stay on top of her game! Hope everyone has a great day!

Pre-Sale?

I was on Twitter talking to a few awesome bloggers last night and the talk of Pre-Sale came up. I have also received a few emails and comments on pre-sale before this. What do you guys think? Should I do a pre-sale? I put a little poll up on the upper right hand side of my blog - let me know what you think? If I offer the pre-sale it won't be until I finalize the samples and can get swatches up, but at least I'll know what everyone wants and we can go from there!

The contest is getting some amazing results! Right now the results are tied between two with another one just trailing behind those two and the other three just trailing behind those. I added some better pictures of EvilAngel's color by the way. I wanted to let everyone know, since it was such a tough one to photograph. I wonder who the winner will be? Want to know the sucky part? (Is sucky a word? Ha!) I will be on a ladies cruise when the contest ends! OK - that really isn't so sucky is it? Ha! I will be hangin' with the girls on a cruise to the bahama's, which is going to be awesome - but I won't know who won until I get back on Monday! Juan is going to shut the contest down and tabulate all the results for me. Which of course I will confirm on my own and post the results on Monday.

Speaking of the cruise - I am still not packed and I still don't know what color I want to wear on my nails. I was hoping my samples would be back in time for me to rock the red holo - but my luck it will get here after I leave on Friday or something! So any thoughts? Suggestions? I was thinking an old favorite like RBL Bangin' or Chanel Kaleidoscope. Any other suggestions?

Right now I am wearing a brown I created. I have been wearing this since I think Friday night, and through  giving myself a pedicure and everything and didn't take pictures until right now, so excuse the tipwear. But not too bad considering it's early Tuesday morning!

I am thinking I am going to add some dark purple to this to see if it takes on a purple hue. I think that could look awesome! Maybe I'll have some time tonight to play around, well if I can get my packing done that is! In the meantime I better get my behind to work! Have a great day!

If you haven't cast your vote yet, don't forget to vote! I have the link below the poll on the upper right hand of the blog.

It's Time To Cast Your Vote for the Final Cult Nails Color!

It's time to vote for your fellow blogger polish creations. Cult Nails will create the winning color as part of the launch collection. The winner will of course receive all three colors of the launch collection before everyone else! (well not everyone, since I guess I will have it first, but you know what I mean.) Below are the descriptions and pictures for the entrants dream colors. The contest will run through Friday September 24th at 11:59PM EST and the results will be posted here on Monday September 27th. Help spread the word about Cult Nails and have your friends, family and followers help select the winning shade! Here are the entries in no particular order:

1.  Blogger: Lacquered Lizard
Color: Sage green with purple shimmer
Description: Lacquered Lizard entered this color for another contest and still would like to
see this one happen. She did a post on her blog about this color, which you can see here.
She would like "A color like the Mexican sage plant with it's silver green leaves and purple
flowers. A sage green polish with purple/pink shimmer. The green pictured below is spot
on, but she would like to see more purple shimmer come out in the final polish."
     Inspiration:

2.  Blogger: Tierny
Color: Dark jelly (black/navy) with suspended blue & green shimmer
Description: "Inspired by phosphorescence in the water. It's one of my favorite things
about being on my boat at night, when you can see the phosphorescence. I remember the
first time I ever saw it when I was  about 12, my parents showed me and the first thing I
said was that it looked like Tinkerbell was swimming around in the water. I love how the
water looks black and then it sparkles blue and green.
     Inspiration:

3.  Follower: WhateverAmber
     Color: Blue Purple Holographic
Description: "A blurple holographic! But a more blue leaning blurple; like the color that
most blurples look in photographs."  This color would be called: Pretty the World.
Inspiration: I tried to create the color of WhateverAmber's dreams. Creating a
holographic is not the easiest thing to create. If this color wins, I will work on a much
     more holographic effect.

4.  Blogger: EvilAngel
Color: Turquoise Jelly with Pink or purple shimmer
Description: Turquoise jelly with purple or pink shimmer...maybe both
Inspiration: This was another tough one to photograph. This is a true jelly in person, very
shiny and the shimmer just won't quit. This flashes from turquoise to pink to purple
depending on how the light hits it. I wish I had more pictures to show you of this one,
but the pink & purple shimmer just wouldn't come out in the pictures for some reason. :(

5.  Blogger: KrisinPhilly
Color: Zen Garden Rock Grey with peridot shimmer
Description:A smokey blue based grey or a grey sage with slight greyish silver and
peridot green shimmer. Not as dark as Zoya's Kelly but a bit lighter with a touch more
blue and a creme base. I see the silver/grey being a shimmer that blends with the grey.
The peridot as an added shimmer - if that makes sense?! I can see a multi-tone peridot
    shimmer.

    Color: Deep blue shimmer
Description: I am a blue lover and love the blue right after the sun sets. It is a dark blue,
not quite blackened since you can still tell that it is blue. Inspiration: The original blue I
created was still a little too light for Claudia's vision. I darkened it up a bit for the final
    version.

Another Weekend is Upon Us

Before we start today's post I have a message for Brianna. Yeah Brianna - this is for you! Yesterday Brianna read my post and made a comment something to the effect of "Who does your mom think she is saying the Kardashian's have nothing on her, for one they are younger." Brianna was kidding. (At least I hope she was) and she is the Kat's friend. Well of course I think that means that she misunderstood my comment from yesterday's post. But I thought it was clever and funny, so of course now she gets a bit of payback! Brianna I was referring to the size of my rear end. Not their gorgeousness, nor their age. Although I resent that age comment young lady! :) And hey thank you for even putting me in their league! I love it! That means this momma still has it! (It had to be the combo between those cargo skinnies and my shoes and not the butt according to Brianna who missed the reference!) Ha!

OK so now back to the posting, How is everyone planning on ringing in the weekend? We have a wedding to go to and I still don't know what I am going to wear. I think it is a somewhat casual wedding, so a cute sundress and some hot shoes? I guess I better get in my closet and see what I have since shopping is out of the question right now. Speaking of, did you know you need like a million business licenses to start a business? I swear every time I turn around there is another requirement! It is crazy. Fed ID, State Certificate, County License, zoning license, City license, Sales & Use tax license, Trade Mark, and let's not forget the merchant account and Paypal account and the list goes on and on. I swear, I don't even have a bottle of my polish in my hands and all this other stuff is keeping me busy!

Anyhoo, let's get onto the nails for today. This is another one created by one of my daughters. Coco created this gold matte polish. This was very streaky but the concept is great. Not to shabby for an 1 year old. Matte gold, who would have thought of this one?

Cool right? Alright girls, I will see you back here next weekend, with hopefully another outfit of the day.  Have a great weekend!

Oh wait before I go - today is your last chance to enter the contest to have your dream color be part of the first release of Cult Nails! Go to www.cultnails.com/Shop.html for details and how to enter. Check back next week for the entrants and to help select the winner!

Outfit of the Day

I totally forgot I took pictures on Friday for an Outfit of the Day post. How could I forget? I think these are my best pictures yet. I tried to pretend that there was no camera and it almost worked. I think I might actually get the hang of this after all. But boy do I feel conceited when I take these pictures, but hey let's be serious, if I am doing all this, then I must be just a little bit conceited right? I am a Leo after all! HA!

So I have been seeing these J Brand Houlihan Cargo Skinnies all over the place and I fell in love with them.

But for $231 that just wasn't going to happen. I just can't see paying that much for a pair of trendy pants. I just can't do it. So I went looking for a knock off style. I grabbed a pair of black ones from Target, but they stretch and are a bit of a baggy skinny if that even makes any sense. Plus I wanted them in an olive color. I just had it in my head that I had to get these. So much so that I actually contemplated on trying to convince myself to just spend the $231. What is wrong with me?

Well while at Ross the other day I found a very similar pair that even has the zipper up the side by Almost Famous for $19.99! Of course looking for a picture to post on here I just found them online for $15.99! So if you want your own pair go here before they sell out!

These are so similar it's ridiculous! The only major difference is the material and color. The rest of the differences are so minor, they don't even matter.

I wish we got more pictures of the scenery. We actually found this old abandoned apartment complex (or maybe hotel). I don't know why it was abandoned, or what the circumstances are, but there was a lot of overgrown grass and hornet or wasp nests and broken windows. It was actually a little horror movieish, but made for a great location.

Outfit deets: Grey BDG T-shirt from Urban Outfitters. I think I paid $5 or $10 for it. Eggplant Purple Lace Trimmed Ribbed tank from American Eagle. Again I think I paid $5 or $10 for it. My Almost Famous Cargo's from Ross for $19.99.  Chinese Laundry sandals $118. The necklace I wore before, it's from Charlotte Russe and was $8. The sunglasses I got from Ross ages ago. They are Roca Wear and I love them. They were $9.99. Turns out their men's though. Oops! And of course my lovely LV Speedy handbag.

Another outfit shot and those damn hornets or wasps or whatever they are. Anyone know? These nests were EVERYWHERE!

Dang check out that bootie! The Kardashian's have nothing on me! I just had to show these. No wonder I kept getting checked out all day! I didn't realize my shirt kept riding up on my bottom. I guess I should know this by now. But that side view - WOW!

Unfortunately I forgot what I was wearing on my nails. I think it was one of my khaki browns, so since I showed you that one already last week, I'll show you a different one. This one was made by one of my daughter's. It is a metallic rose color.

Gorgeous isn't it?

My First Attempt at a Duochrome

I was trying to create a purple brown toned polish with a green duo chrome effect. I got pretty close. It showed perfect in the bottle, but on the nail it came out with more green than the purple brown color. But it still came out pretty cool none the less. I may have to think this one through a little more though if it is going to make it into the line. But either way I am having a blast trying to create different colors! I have already created over 20 polishes in the last week and a half! It's crazy! I need to see about getting more bottles already!

On the bad side, I received my samples back from the lab for the colors I am releasing and they were not perfect. I was so disappointed. The lab is now working on take two. The formula was perfect, it was the colors that were off from what it is I am looking for. OK so maybe I am just bummed because I was hoping for perfection right out of the gate, but after months of working on this, it just seems like forever! And nothing short of perfection will do. I want to release these colors sooner rather than later and with each go round, it just adds more time to the wait. But I would rather put out my dream product rather than just a good enough product, and since we are just establishing our relationship, this could be part of the reason. I am hoping to hear some news tomorrow as to how much longer this is going to take and when I can expect to see the second take on the colors. Wish me luck!
